Your Questions About Help For Car Sick Dogs

Paul asks…

Please help….Im unlicenced from not renewing my licence and this happened….?

Hi, I was hoping you may be able to help. Im an unlicenced driver, who swerved to miss a dog and crashed my boyfriends car. After the accident I was in total shock and freaking out bad about how I would go home and tell him. I had a bottle of vodka given to me for a Christmas gift in my car, as I was coming home from her house at the time.I ripped out the bottle to try and calm me and give myself the extra guts to tell my controlling boyfriend. Anyhow I started to walk home and about 40 minutes later the police find me walking home. I told them I had the accident and that I was unlincenced. They conducted a breath test, and took me off to the police station. Problem is now Im being charged with drink driving when I didnt drink before driving.?? I also was treated in a discusting manner by the police. By the time they had me at the police station I was breath less and feeling very sick. They thought I was avoiding my breath test??Once sent home I got a cab home. And I was totally breathless,..and emense pain.I rang my mum,who immediately came over, She raced me staight up to the hospital where I was immediately admitted. I had 2 broken ribs a punchured lung and nerve damage to my hips. I stayed in hospital for 7 days on morphene and oxegen, physo too help reopen my lung too.I personally feel that the police should have taken me straight to hospital instead of worrying about my god dam breath test. I later found that the hospital do conduct them and by the time I got thier I was low range not mid range. At the accident scence they found no scretch marks on road to say I was also speeding so I find that a negative claim for them to right in my statement. Any advice on my situation, would be great!

Nancy asks…

problems with my puppy, please please help!!!!!?

i just recently got a puppy on thursday. she is 8 weeks, and she was spayed on thursday. and when we first got her she was kinda like quiet and not active because she wasnt used to her home, i understand that. but then thew next day she was really active and energetic, then she just knocks out at random times. The lady we got her from gave us this food, raw meat, and told us to give it to her for a while and not to change the food because it was change her digestive system. But she just would NEVER eat it, she does drink which is good. But we started to get worried because it was almost 2 days without eating, with only a bit each day because then she would walk away from it. Today we gave her different food, wet food from the can. She ate it, she ate a lot of it, and she got really energetic and was running around and drinknig and she was fine. then she just knocked out, and now shes sleeping and its been like an hour. Everyday she has her times when she is just outta control and running around the house , but most of the time she is sleeping and when you hold her she breaths really heavenly, and she coughs a lot. we are really worried, but we arent sure if this is just a side affect from her being spayed a couple days ago. or if she’s sick; so please if your a vet or a past vet, help us. we dont have enough money to go to the vet yet , because we just bought the dog and my brother a car. so we’re like broke. so we dont want that to be the first option unless it is COMPLETELY neccesary. so if you have seen this before please please help me. i recently love my other dog of 17 years in decemeber, and i went through hell, and i dont want to go through it again. so please help !!!!

thank you in advance
i just wanted to say that we did not spay her, we got her from heartbandits.com ; which is a rescue industry for american eskimos. they spay/neatuer them wright away. so we didnt have the choice of doing it, she already has these shots:: roundworm, giardia, and coccida. and we can not give her hard food yet, because she is only a baby and has like no teeth, so we have to give her wet food.
thank you everyone so much for your help. we took her in the vet today, and urgh… sadly she has pnuemina. my whole family is devistated. but we are going to cure her. shes under medicine and love. please everyone keep her in prayer. pray for her. her name is angel ; i dont wanna lose another dog. i cant go through with it, im only 13. =[ we could realli use your prayers. thank you <3

Bauser answers:

First, changing the diet , you may see some dietary digressions like gas or diarrhea.
Puppies like toddlers go go go then sleep. All that could be normal.

Being that she was just spayed she should be leash walked and kept quit so no to bust stitches the vet should have told you this for at least 10 days. Cough could be from the trach tube irritation or kennel cough that I would have checked out.

The diet you should have the puppy on should be a high quality puppy food, personally I would stay away from raw meat. If you are going to use a diet that is home made do your research for the proper vitamins, minerals and proteins these must be in proper balance or problem can occur as adult hood disease’s.

Check her shot records because she should have 3-4 sets of vaccines given 3 weeks apart, started on heartworm prevention by 6 months of age and de-wormed properly even if there is no evidence of intestinal parasites.

Most vet give a free first puppy visit free call and check around. This is a health pet visit usually.

Mark asks…

My pup suffers from travel sickness.?

going on a long trip in the car and going on ferry across the Irish sea for 4 hrs, he is 6 months old. Also need help with travel stress for 18 month old dog who isn’t sick but doesn’t like the car.

Bauser answers:

You might want to call your vet. They have things that should calm your dogs and make travel easier.

HELP! My Lab swallowed a squirrel!?

I dont know how it happened, but i went outside and I saw my dog had caught and killed a squirrel. I attempted to get it away from him but he ran away to an area in my yard where you cant get to easily. By the time I got to him, he had already swallowed the squirrel. I am just completely amazed at this because he is just fine. He is just as happy and jolly as he wants to be!!! Im still worried about him. I cant take him to the vet because I live in a very very small town & my neighborhood vet is closed for vacation time (we rarely have sick animals around here). The nearest vet is 50 miles away and I know that my car cant make it. Since my dog seems just fine now, do you think I should wait? I mean if he gets sick between now and the time the vet opens then of course I’ll drive 50 miles, but he should be okay now right? The squirrel was only a baby so that should be okay too? Any help would be nice.

George asks…

What can I do to help animals?

I want to help animals, what can I do?

I love animals, especially dogs.
I think I love my dog more than anything else in the world.

I just want to help helpless animals.
I want to volunteer, or do something to make a difference in their world.

I believe in the no kill law, so I would rather not help a shelter that has a holding time of 48 hrs.
I’ve looked at local shelters and such, and there’s only one no kill rescue site near my area. I live in SoCal. So im planning on trying to volunteer there.

But any suggestions on what else I could do?
Any organizations out there need a volunteer?

I always see stray dogs, and it makes me sad to know that they have a high chance of dying by getting hit by a car. I don’t know what to do, calling the humane society would just sentences them to death anyways.
And now that the weather is getting cool, they have more risks of dying. Homeless dogs could die freezing or get really sick from the cold, even shelter dogs can.

Im very concerned about them, and I really hate it when people mistreat them or abuse them and say “oh they’re just a dog”.

I want to be the voice for the voiceless.
I hope my passion for helping others and my love for dogs will help me help them and make a big difference in many lives.

Bauser answers:

It sounds like dogs in particular are your passion. Make your living your passion. Work in the dog industry. I am in love with dogs. I’m almost done with my dog training schooling and then plan to open a doggie daycare that specialized is training your dog like a school trains your kids. Did you know that more dogs are killed every year from euthanizing that all other dog illnesses put together? Training is essential to keeping a dog in a home! After my school takes off I plan on working with shelters and rescues to train dogs to be better pets so they can stay in loving homes. Find a way to make your environment better. Make yourself happy by helping in some way or another.

Good luck!!
