Lizzie asks…
Can a vegetarian diet be healthy for dogs?
I read a story about Bramble, a Border Collie who lived to be 28 years old and was a vegan. She ate a bowl of lentils, rice and organic vegetables every evening. This story is making me re-think my long standing belief that in order for my two dogs to be healthy they need to eat a diet that consists of animal protein.

What are your thoughts?

Bauser answers:
As long as you pay attention to the dog’s nutritional needs, he or she can be very healthy on a vegetarian or vegan diet. Many people have reversed their dog’s health problems by transitioning them to vegan diets.
Alicia Silverstone’s dogs are all vegans and are extremely healthy according to her. And they never fart which is a bonus. Her two dogs who passed away were over 15 years old. The others are still healthy and thriving.

Sharon asks…
how do you keep a dogs teeth healthy on a regular basis?
My dog never had good teeth…she never liked bones and i was wondering if there is something i should be giving the puppy in order to keep it healthy and clean for it’s whole life basically? my other dog suffered a bit near the end with her teeth. the vet didn’t want to clean them because she was so old. so is there anything the dogs should be eating or what?
like at puppy age what should i start it out with? and how do i keep it consistant?

Bauser answers:
Bones Bones & More Bones!
Dry foods will help to give the animal a urinary tract infection if the animal is not drinking enough water.. Most Dry dog food is just overcooked grain sprayed with carcinogenic rendered animal fat.
I use chicken wings & necks/ chicken frames/ lamb briskit /beef chuck bone -lots of fun angles that clean their teeth well!
I also have a scaling tool that I use once every couple of weeks and it just get the canine teeth that don’t get as much work on the bones (they are the initial killing teeth when an animal pulls it’s prey down. )
Both of my dogs teeth aged 7yrs and 2yrs are lovely and white and they do not have bad breath either.. A great side effect of feeding a dog well..
My dogs are both fed on a strict BARF (Bones And Raw Food) diet and have never and will never eat processed dog food of any sort wet or dry.

Ruth asks…
Are the dogs at Rumford Pet Center healthy?
I was in Rumford Pet Center in Warwick, RI and I was thinking about buying a dog from there. Before I look into it I want to know if the dogs there are healthy and happy. The last thing I would want is an un- healthy dog or even a moody one. So if you have gotten a dog there before or know what their dogs are like please answer. THANK YOU!!!!

Bauser answers:
Why wouldnt they? What pet center would give or sell sick animals?

Charles asks…
Why does everyone think Teacup dogs are healthy & geneticly sound?
There teacup are not healthy, can people give me some reason why these dogs are not healthy and why their not genetic sound.

Bauser answers:
If people can be tricked into thinking that their “purebred” “puggle” or “schnachshund” or “piddle-poo” was worth the hunderds of dollars they paid for it, they can certainly be convinced that “teacup” versions of certain breeds are legitimate and healthy variations. People who don’t do their research before buying a dog will generally believe anything a disreputable breeder tells them.

James asks…
is the banfield wellness plan a bad investment for two healthy dogs?
they have been there for 2 years and they have never came up with any bad illneses from the tests
25.00 per dogs….. is it cheaper to just have them vaccinated whenever they need it only
sorry… its 25.00 a month

Bauser answers:
Had very very bad experience with banfield. They didn’t seem to care that my puppy had an allergy to one of the shots. He swelled up like a balloon and then they charged me $65.00 for the steroid shot they had to give him to save his life. They wouldn’t take him off the plan so I told them he had died and they still wanted me to pay for the rest of the damn program. I refused and had to call corporate and it was a big mess. I only wanted the one dog taken off the program but they kicked my other two dogs out of it as well. The receptionist told me that she didn’t make any money off the military and that really did not sit well with me at all. She also said that i had been obscene when i went in there which wasn’t true at all. If she wanted obscene I would have gone in there covered in blood. I will never use them again.
